Your child does not need to struggle. We can help.

Dyslexia Specialists of Central Illinois is a therapy company that provides 1-on-1, evidence-based literacy instruction in our office, remotely, or in your child’s school, as well as comprehensive diagnostic testing.

Why us?
Children with literacy disorders, like dyslexia, need explicit and systematic instruction to learn how to read and write.
“A capacity and taste for reading gives access to whatever has already been discovered by others”
Abraham Lincoln
WHO ARE WE?
Maggie and Kate are sisters. Born and raised in Central Illinois.
Maggie has always been passionate about the field of reading. She is a certified speech language pathologist, certified Orton Gillingham teacher, adjunct professor, and a current clinical doctorate student at Kansas University with a primary emphasis in dyslexia. She has a private practice located in Southern Illinois, where she provides extensive diagnostic literacy testing.
Kate earned her masters in early intervention in deaf education in 2014. She worked as a deaf education teacher in the public schools until she decided to focus her energy on being a mom. Now that her children are older, and after working hard to understand the Science of Reading, she is ready to begin seeing clients 1-on-1.
Together, they have dreamed about being able to work with each other to help teach children how to read.

“Reading is complex. It requires our brains to connect letters to sounds, put those sounds in the right order, and pull the words together into sentences and paragraphs we can read and comprehend.”
Sally Shaywitz, Overcoming Dyslexia
